By now every gal and her mama is familiar with argan oil, an ingredient popularized by Josie Maran cosmetics and MoroccanOil hair products. Blogs, magazines, hairstylists, and makeup artists alike have been touting its vast benefits for almost a year now and it's even begun to line the haircare shelves at superstore giants like Walmart, bringing argan oil to the masses! But now there's a newcomer oil to skincare and beauty products you probably haven't heard of yet: maracuja oil. Maracuja may just be the next argan oil! Here's a comparison between the two:
So, which should I buy?
You can't go wrong with either! Each oil has similar benefits and the pure oil is priced about the same; Josie Maran sells pure argan oil at $48 for 1.7 oz., while Tarte sells pure maracuja oil at $46 for the same size. Beauty products featuring argan oil are, of course, easier to find, but Tarte is beginning to formulate products with maracuja oil (in keeping with their new Amazonian clay discoveries, you see). I've tried their brand new maracuja oil concealer and so far, I'm impressed! I can't wait to see more products that feature this oil (lipstick, maybe? tinted moisturizer?).
What do you think? Could maracuja oil possibly compete with the now-commercialized argan oil? Are you an argan oil devotee? Would you be willing to give maracuja oil a try?
