Help! My Undereye Circles Have Got to Go!

via
I'll let you in on a little behind-the-scenes secret here: I have super dark undereye circles.  No matter how much water I drink or how much sleep I get, they won't budge.  For a while I thought it could be springtime allergy related, which is a pretty common problem.  But I stopped sneezing and relying on daily Claritin months ago!  Sigh.  Perhaps it's time to admit that while I've inherited some wonderful traits from my parents, I should just chalk this one up to unfortunate genes?  Maybe, but I'm not quite ready!  There are products to be tried and tested!

That, dear readers, is where you come in.  I need eye cream/dark circle fading recommendations, stat!

For reference:
Super expensive products (like La Mer's The Eye Concentrate) are unfortunately way out of my budget for now.  Around $50 is do-able, but only if it really, really worked for you!

I've tried Garnier's Eye Rollerball and Philosophy's Eye Hope, both of which did wonders for hydration and puffiness but not a darn thing for these ever-persistent dark circles.

Do any of you lovelies have this problem, too?  What's worked, and what hasn't?  Help a girl out!

  1. I have them too and the only thing that's worked for me is concealer. :/ I think mine are hereditary too.

I hope you find something that works!

  2. if I didn't already say, I really like your new banner.

frankly, I agree with the poster above but I do use strivectin eye cream and nothing seems worse at least. I am olive skinned and have been told this complexion almost always will have under eye circles even as teens b/c of how our skin holds pigment. but I don't sense any olive in your skin?
honestly, it's prob not at all as noticeable as you think, I certainly hadn't noticed.

  3. I know how you feel, I've had mine my whole life and can't do anything about it. There was something like the Gardnier and Philosophy rollerball that I had heard about....I think it was L'Oreal brand? You might want to try the Avon brand too.

  4. Thank you all :)

Maybe you're right Melina, it's probably not as noticeable as I think! That makes me feel a lot better. I actually just got a sample of Strivectin's eye cream. And I have zero olive tones in my skin.

I do have some pretty excellent concealers, so I guess it could be worse!

  5. I would have never noticed that you had them from your photos....honestly. I will say, though, that it could be a pigment thing or that your eye area is lacking some type of nutrient. In terms of under eye treatments, Lise Watier makes a FABULOUS circle of 5 cream concealers for around $27. The best part is that the circle has all colors - green, blue, yellow, tan. Blue is going to be your best bet since it neutralizes the dark skin tone around the eye plus it brightens the eye area a bit.

  6. I'm always looking for ways to get rid of my circles, but it seems like they'll always be there! =P I use the stick concealer from Avon, because it's the only thing that will fully cover them and not get all caked up in the lines under my lids. I did a lot of research to see why they're there and what I could do, and from what I read, heredity can cause you to have extra fragile capillaries under your eyes that burst for no good reason and leave the skin under your eyes perpetually bruised. Since people in my family have circles just like mine, I'm assuming it's hereditary for me, and really, what can you do about capillaries? =/ However, my mom is always buying me products for it, so I'll give them a try and let you know if any of them help!
